The Astrology of E=mc2

It came in 1905 from a square from transiting Uranus in Capricorn at 3 degrees to Einsteins Mercury in Aries at 3 degrees. A rupture in his head that could have just as easily been a stroke and yet was a stroke, of genius. Albert Einstein formulated the equation for energy that equals mass times the speed of light squared. E=mc2. How fantastic it was that an astrological square enlightened him on a measurement of squared energy itself. One might call it, astrological poetry in motion. That year, the incandescent, revelatory, unpredictable lighting strike so characteristic of Uranus, planet of the sudden, the ingenious, the out of nowhere, geometrically poised at a perfect 90 degree angle to the 'thoughts inside Einsteins head" literally his Mercury (thoughts) in Aries (the head).  SHAZAM! It was a predestined lightening bolt set to strike the amiable physicist, and it detonated right on time. A flash of insight wrestled from the Gods and destined to change the world.

What does this transit tell us about the astrology of Energy? That energy may be written by a function of Uranus and Mercury, electricity and operation. That energy requires astrological adversity. Capricorn and Aries along with Libra and Cancer are Cardinal adversaries that invoke praxis. In astrology, active energy is represented by a square. Without the square we are not experiencing a will or a call to action. Compounded adversarial energy knows no bounds. Energy is discoverable, then repeatable and finally malleable. It teaches us how we are to position the force of an astrological square into focused direction.

In the years that followed, 1906-1907, Albert would face a planetary cascade with a then Saturn transit in Pisces conjunct to his Midheaven and square to his natal Moon in Sagittarius. This would show his rise in stature to the top of his field, promoting more responsibility that would conversely concern, depressed him and antagonize his beliefs. Then another formidable consequence would come in the following three years up until 1909 when transiting Pluto in Gemini would move to square Alberts sensitive Pisces Sun. Here is where we see the weight of indomitable facts (Pluto in Gemini) corrupting the gentle daydreamer with its penetrating foreshadows of atomic bombs, for the discovery of E=mc2 was also, the first spark of what would later be created from it, split atom-atomic energy - fission.

The transits to Einsteins chart in the years following his greatest achievement show a man with an awesome burden. He must have been under enormous pressure to ethically compensate for what he had produced and to bring forth more examples from his genius. He must have been deeply worried (Saturn square Moon) about how his insight was garnered into giving mankind Promethean powers. It is likely from his transits at the time he suffered power struggles with secret enemies (Pluto in his 12th house) and that he was deceived on a monumental scale with transiting Neptune in Cancer conjunct his ascendant. One wonders what else he knew that he never dared to share. At the time he wrote that future giving equation he was under a tsunami of astrological and spiritual forces. Yet without these pressures exerted upon him, he could not have produced the most famous scientific fact to date.

We can all rest assured then in the enlightenment of a square.
